4,300 lights.
4,300 lives.
One conversation that could save the next.

In England in 2024, 4,300 men were lost to suicide — 12 every day, one every two hours. We turn that invisible crisis into something you can see, walk through, and never forget.

The Field of 4,300 Lights

A field of warmth in the dark. Each light hand-placed. Each one carrying the weight of a life that ended too soon — and the names of the people left behind.

Inspired by an Australian memorial Joe saw in a video while recovering in hospital, The Field of 4,300 Lights is designed to stop you in your tracks and make an invisible crisis impossible to ignore.

Why we exist

A father. A survivor. A reason to speak up.

This project exists because I came close to becoming one of those numbers myself. It's my way of turning that experience into something that may stop another family from receiving that call.

Joe Jones
Founder · Your Light Matters UK

In October 2024, Joe — a 34-year-old dad of two from Liverpool — survived a suicide attempt. What followed was the most honest reckoning of his life. He saw clearly, for the first time, how easily pain hides behind competence, humour, and strength, and how dangerous silence can become when men feel they must carry everything alone.

He also saw the impact this has on the people left behind: partners, children, parents — left trying to understand what they never saw coming.

From a hospital bed, he began sketching what would become Your Light Matters UK. Not another awareness campaign. Not another hashtag. Something visible. Something you could walk through. Something that would force the country to look at what's really happening to men.

Today, Joe is in a different place — and he's using everything he learned to make sure others get there too. Your Light Matters UK is the work of someone who's been at the edge and come back. That's why people listen.

How we help

Three ways we're making the invisible visible.

Public Installations

Large-scale light memorials in public spaces across the UK — starting with Stanley Park, Liverpool, and rolling out city by city. Visible. Walk-through. Unforgettable.

Awareness Campaigns

Billboards, social campaigns, and partner content designed to break the silence around men's mental health and signpost the support that already exists — clearly, loudly, and without stigma.

Partner Funding

Every campaign raises money for charities already doing the work — Andy's Man Club, and a growing network of frontline mental health organisations supporting men in crisis right now.
